\u0093World \t\t\t\tLaughter Day\u0094 was created in 1998 by Dr Madan Kataria, founder \t\t\t\tof the worldwide Laughter Yoga movement. The celebration of \t\t\t\tWorld Laughter Day is a positive manifestation for world peace \t\t\t\tand is intended to build up a global consciousness of \t\t\t\tbrotherhood and friendship through laughter. Its popularity has \t\t\t\tgrown exponentially with that of the Laughter Yoga movement (now \t\t\t\tcounting over 5000 Laughter Clubs worldwide on all 5 \t\t\t\tcontinents).<\/p>\n
The first \u0093World Laughter Day\u0094 gathering took place in \t\t\t\tMumbai, India, on 11th of January 1998. 12,000 members from \t\t\t\tlocal and international Laughter Clubs joined together in a mega \t\t\t\tlaughter session.<\/p>\n
\u0093HAPPY-DEMIC\u0094 was the first World Laughter Day gathering \t\t\t\toutside India. It took place on 9th January 2000 In Copenhagen, \t\t\t\tDenmark and more than 10,000 people gathered at Town Hall \t\t\t\tSquare. The event went into Guinness Book of World records.<\/p>\n
\u0093World Laughter Day\u0094 is now organized on the first Sunday of \t\t\t\tMay every year. Hundreds of people (oftentimes thousands) gather \t\t\t\tworldwide on that day to laugh together. Such an enthusiastic \t\t\t\tparticipation is proof that Laughter Clubs are not a laughing \t\t\t\tmatter.<\/p>\n

Today, \t\t\t\tmany people fear widespread international terrorism. The world \t\t\t\thas never faced so much unrest before. People are at war within \t\t\t\tthemselves.<\/p>\n
Laughter is a positive and powerful emotion that has all the \t\t\t\tingredients required for individuals to change themselves and to \t\t\t\tchange the world in a peaceful and positive way. It directly \t\t\t\timpacts one\u0092s electro-magnetic field and creates a positive aura \t\t\t\taround that person. When a group of individuals laugh together, \t\t\t\tthey create a collective community aura. Electromagnetic waves \t\t\t\tfrom a group who are laughing every day form a protective \t\t\t\tenvelope around that area to protect it from negative forces \t\t\t\t(similarly, people believed in ancient India that one saintly \t\t\t\tperson was enough to protect the entire village). <\/p>\n
Laughter is a universal language, which has the potential to \t\t\t\tunite humanity without religion. Laughter can establish a common \t\t\t\tlink between various religions and create a new world order. The \t\t\t\tidea may sound over-ambitious, and maybe it is. But maybe it is \t\t\t\tnot. It is our deep belief that laughter and only laughter can \t\t\t\tunite the world, building up a global consciousness of \t\t\t\tbrotherhood and friendship. <\/p>\n
